Mother’s Day always feels like a lot of pressure. You want it to feel thoughtful. Not rushed. Not generic.
The usual brunch spots get packed fast. Parking turns into a headache. And somehow it ends up feeling stressful instead of special.
That’s why I like building simple itineraries around how people actually spend time in Salt Lake. A few good stops. Easy flow. No overplanning.
Here are five Mother’s Day experiences in Salt Lake that feel local, doable, and actually enjoyable.
The “Craft + Garden” Day
Start at Mother’s Day Crop
This is a full-day crafting setup from 10 AM to 7 PM. You can come and go as you need, which takes the pressure off. There’s a custom card kit and scrapbooking kit made just for the event, plus lunch is handled.
It’s a good pick if the day is about slowing down and making something meaningful.
After, drive over to Ashton Gardens at Thanksgiving Point
Wide open lawns, themed garden spaces, and that massive waterfall. You can walk, find a quiet spot, and have a picnic. The Tulip Festival runs through mid-May, so timing lines up well.
The “Vintage Finds + Dinner” Route
Start at IconoCLAD
Love this place. The racks are curated, not chaotic. You’ll find vintage, secondhand, and standout pieces that actually feel wearable.
People go here to find something unique without digging for hours. It’s consistent and worth the stop.
Then walk over to Blue Velvet Bunny
Just a couple blocks away. Smaller, a bit more eclectic. You’ll find some unexpected pieces here, which makes it fun.
Finish at Roux SLC
Cozy, chef-driven, and a solid choice for Mother’s Day. Start with the oyster mushrooms and focaccia. Then go for the gnocchi or trout. Save room for Basque cheesecake.
The “Aquarium + Dessert” Plan
Book Mother’s Day brunch at Loveland Living Planet Aquarium
You get a buffet in the Oceans Ballroom with views into the main tank. Sharks, sea turtles, reef fish. It’s a fun setting without feeling over the top.
Your ticket also includes full access to the aquarium. Stingray touch pool, shark tunnel, rainforest exhibit. Plenty to do without needing another stop.
End the day at Leatherby’s Family Creamery
Classic ice cream shop energy. Big portions, house-made options, and a relaxed way to wrap things up.
The “Market Day” Route
Start at Creator’s Collective Mother’s Day Market
Runs May 9 from 11 AM to 4 PM. You’ll find local artists, makers, and small businesses. Jewelry, clothing, baked goods, plants. It’s easy to spend a couple of hours here.
If you want something bigger, head to Crazy Daisy Mother’s Day Market
Over 65 vendors. Handmade goods, home decor, food, and plenty of gift options. There’s also a giveaway, which keeps it fun.
This route works well if you want a social, flexible day with lots to browse.
The “Mountain Loop + Lodge Lunch”
Head up to Silver Lake Loop
It’s a short loop, under a mile, but it delivers. Boardwalk sections, lake views, and cooler air at higher elevation. You can take your time and still feel like you got out.
Wildlife sightings happen, so keep your distance and enjoy the moment.
After, eat at Silver Fork Lodge Restaurant
Casual and reliable. Good mix of comfort food and hearty options. The meatloaf and Reuben are local favorites. It’s a great follow-up after being outside.
Keep It Simple This Year
Mother’s Day in Salt Lake works best when the plan feels simple and intentional. Pick one route and let it carry the day.
I help people find homes here, but this is the kind of day that shows how you actually live in Salt Lake. Try one of these this year and see what fits your rhythm.
